What’s it like to own real estate in MT’s Paradise Valley?

The distinct towns within Paradise Valley speak to the heart, soul, and western roots of settlers here during the 1800s — Emigrant, Chico, and Pray.

The lush river valley has long been home to farmers and ranchers, who employed its relatively temperate climate to raise their animals and crops. It also has a history with miners, who sought wealth in the reaches of the surrounding mountains. To the east and west, Paradise Valley is hugged by rugged peaks that draw the eye and spirit skyward. Today, the valley is still home to those whose livelihoods maintain the traditions of working the landscape to feed their neighbors, along with folks who have put down new roots to enjoy the area in new ways.

Paradise Valley was the original entrance to Yellowstone National Park, and the Roosevelt Arch stands proud just a stones’ throw from where the Yellowstone River flows through the tourist-friendly town of Gardiner.

As the Yellowstone passes under a high bridge, a run of splashy rapids emerge that attract paddlers during the spring and summer months. For a few miles, the river calms, making for exceptional trout fishing. At the mouth of Yankee Jim Canyon, fishermen and women with confidence in their rowing abilities will continue on through three named class III rapids, with the riches of beautiful brown and rainbow trout waiting as reward. Then, the river widens and slows, and flat-bottomed driftboats enter the waters alongside rafts to carry fly fishing enthusiasts to waiting eddies and holes.
